The School Day
Admissions and Inspection Reports
We welcome children each morning from 08.45-8.55am. Our acting headteacher Amanda Rhodes or one of our senior leadership team can be found most mornings welcoming children and families through the gates.
Children can, however, be dropped off from 7.30am at our friendly wrap around care provider, ‘Larks and Nightingales’, and enjoy a selection of cereals and toast with friends before lessons begin. In Larks and Nightingales we are delighted to have the only OFSTED rated outstanding wrap around care provider in Ilkley.
The bell rings at 08.55 for Registration. This is an important part of our day where children are welcomed by their teacher and encouraged to share news and exchange information before starting their first lesson.
The morning session is from 8.55 to 12.00 for Early Years and Key Stage One, and from 8.55 to 12.15 for Key Stage 2.
Our children are then ready for their healthy lunch, cooked fresh each day on the premises by our dedicated kitchen staff.
Afternoon lessons start at 12.45 and 13.00 respectively, ending at 15.15 for all children. Both Early Years and Key Stage One enjoy a 15 minute break during the afternoon session to play, stretch their legs and have time to refocus! Children are in school for 6 and a half hours per day.
We provide an array of after school clubs and activities to take part in as well as Larks and Nightingales which runs term-time until 6pm.
Collection and School Buses
YR/1/2/3 are supervised by staff when being collected by nominated adults.
Y4/5/6 leave the building independently when the bell rings.
In the mornings, children arriving at school by one of the two dedicated ‘yellow school bus’ services are collected from the bus by senior staff and brought into school.
Children using the afternoon buses are gathered together, registers taken and they are escorted to the buses by a member of staff.
