Travel
For Parents
Our school is situated on Valley Drive, in the heart of Ilkley, so walking to school is easy with good footpaths around the town centre. If you live a little further out of town, we have a bus service which operates in Ilkley and Addingham (see map of route below) and for a minimum fee (free if you’re under 6) it is an ideal, safe and environmentally friendly way to travel.
We operate a wider bus service (map shown below) which starts in Menston and picks-up through the neighbouring towns of Menston, Burley in Wharfedale, Ben Rhydding and Ilkley.
For those who wish to travel to us by car, we have minimum onsite parking facilities and we ask parents to keep this area free to avoid congestion and over crowding. Instead, several of the surrounding side streets offer parking, meaning school is only a short walk along safe footpaths. For convenience we have a School Crossing Supervisor (Lollipop Person to you or me!) in front of our school to help both in the mornings and at the end of the day.
For children using the bus service
Children arriving at school by bus will be be met by senior staff and escorted safely into school. Children using the afternoon buses are gathered together in two classrooms, registered and then escorted to the buses by a member of staff.
The Yellow bus service numbers are Ilkley 499 and Burley/Menston P98. Contact Mybus at www.generationm.co.uk for further information.
The Local Authority’s policy on transport is published by the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council ‘Policy Covering Travel between Home, School and College’
