Key Stage 1
Curriculum
When children leave the Foundation Stage after their Reception year they enter Key Stage 1. This stage lasts two years (Year 1 & Year 2) and finishes at the end of Year 2 when the children are all seven years old.
Our Key Stage 1 Curriculum builds on the knowledge and skills acquired in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
In May of their final year children are assessed by their teachers in English, Mathematics and Science, using optional national tests and teacher assessment. At three points in the year children’s attainment and progress is measured through formal assessment. Results are reported to parents with the child’s annual record of achievement. Children in Key Stage 1 study the National Curriculum and Religious Education.
