Head's Welcome

Welcoming all with an Open Heart

Dear Families,

Welcome to our school website. On behalf of myself, the Staff and Governors, I hope it gives you an insight into our lovely school nestled in glorious grounds, here in Ilkley.

Sacred Heart is a small school with a big heart. We are happy, ambitious and inclusive and we pride ourselves on knowing every child and family individually.

We are a friendly, caring school with high expectations for all our children.

As a Catholic school, the Governors and staff aim to create a caring Christian community where children can flourish. We guide and support our children to be the best they can be by living our Mission, ‘Do Everything in Love’.

We help our children:

  • to love themselves so they can be their best self
  • to love others by being respectful, kind and fair
  • to love learning through our engaging curriculum
  • to love our world so they understand the importance of looking after our planet and be responsible citizens

Our broad and balanced curriculum allows children to identify their unique gifts and talents, which are nurtured by our wonderful staff, preparing them for life beyond primary school.

As Headteacher, I believe it is important to remain closely connected to the children and to the classroom. Therefore, our Assistant Head and myself both have teaching commitments. This keeps us focused on leading a school that constantly strives to improve teaching and learning.

Around school, children are excited by their learning. They feel safe to challenge themselves and give everything a go. The children of Sacred Heart are our best advert- they are articulate, compassionate and full of fun. I warmly invite any prospective families to come and see this first-hand. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit.

Best wishes,

Mrs Rhodes
