British Values
The promotion of ‘British values’ is central to Catholic Education because British Values have their origin in the Christian values of our nation.
Through our Catholic faith, British Values will develop:
- an understanding of how citizens can influence decision-making through the democratic process;
- an appreciation that living under the rule of law protects individual citizens and is essential for their well-being and safety;
- an understanding that the freedom to choose and hold other faiths and beliefs is protected in law;
- an acceptance that other people having different faiths or beliefs to oneself (or having none) should be accepted and tolerated;
- an understanding of the importance of identifying and combating discrimination.

- Recognise religious festivals and celebrations from other faiths within worship as well as across the curriculum
British Values are also taught discretely each half term using the Linking Network's Scheme of Work. A variety of story books and poetry are used to enhance the teaching of British Values.
